last day of february 2006

well, here it is, the last day of the month & what have I got to show for it. a barelyblog that's what!!!!! meaning I barely can keep up with it!!!! as it is, I'm terribly disorganized & this blog is no exception. it's a routine & I don't do routines very well. but at least I'm trying. so hopefully by this evening I'll have the baby hat & booties to show you.....
I also completed the sox & the pink mouse (to be felted!!!) & they are both in the washing machine. drat!!!!!!!
last night I cast on for 1 of the townsend sock knitting patterns which I fell in love with but once I started it I found I it was a little too much for my pea brain...cables & all. now normally I have no problem w/cables but on size 0 needles it's a little too much for me!!!!

Baby Feet Washcloth

I know, I feel terrible. but I haven't gotten the pic of the st paddy's facecloth so to make up for it, I knitted this, to appease the throng...all 2 of you!!!!! ha ha ha!!!! I had some leftover Butterfly 10 cotton in a warm olive green (not exactly baby colors but who's counting) & made this adorable facecloth, for baby I suppose. it is also from the knittingknonsense.com website where she has the most adorable projects!!

sock pics

I'm in the process of another pair of sox, cuff down, 2 sox on 2 circs, hopefully w/a short row heel & a non grafted toe...star toe maybe?? I'm not sure yet. but they are on size 1 addi's & they've been movin along pretty quickly.

friday...all day.....how lovely!

I don't know about you, but my week really flew by. I'm trying to find a pattern for a shamrock, but I want it to be SHAPED like a shamrock, not just have a shamrock looking pattern on it. kinda like that flower petal washcloth from Weekend Knitting, but different of course. maybe I can just try charting it out, then increasing & decreasing. I'll see what comes of it. a designer, I'm not.

it worked!!! let's try this again!!!!

ok, here are the burgundy/berry bedsox...very pretty lacy effect....but the pic shows much too red. the color is more purpley but oh well. maggie got both pair tonite when she came to pick me up. she pretended to be very excited but she lies I tell you!!!!!! ha ha!!! anyway, here they are.....

2nd try....cross your fingers!

ok, hopefully I can get both pair of sox to show up here....the blue striped are regia w/solid blue regia in the cuff/heel & toe. did I mention I hate that darn grafted toe?????? at the guild meeting tonite, someone mentioned doing a german toe....where you end up w/just a few stitches & then run the yarn thru & ta-da.....maybe I should give THAT a try??????

hooray, more pics!!!!

I finally got the pic of maggie's sox. they were washed & on the blockers but they look ok.
I also finished a pair of much larger bed sox from a pattern I'm just doing for the 1st time & wanted to make sure it was easy & I liked it. I did. but they are way too big & only good to lounge around it. I used some leftover Calmer from Rowan & size 3 addi circs & did 2 sox at once. again, the toe grafting stinks but hey, that's life. the color is supposed to be a really pretty berry color but you'd never know by looking at the pic so sorry bout that!

ok, well I can't seem to get either pic to upload so it will just have to wait until I get home.

sox all done

that's right, the sox for maggie are all done....but can I just say how much I hate to graft??? I really don't hate to graft, I enjoy the process & all, but on sock toes it just never comes out the way I would like. my toe always seems to dip inwards on itself...I try making it looser, I try that bind off thingee on all 4 edge stitches 1st, but it still looks awful. one of the reasons I prefer toe up. why I did cuff down??? no idea. I'm a terrible sock knitter. yes, I'm sure that's it. I keep trying but maybe I just wasn't meant to do it. gad, what a whiner!!!!!! somebody slap me in the face. thank you. I feel better now!!!!! LOL!!!!!
I'll take a pic shortly...gotta find the camera.

am I stupid or what???????

ok, don't answer that. but do you see what's showing up under my links????? how did THAT happen???? I've been trying since I started this blog, to figure out the simplest of the simple. how to add a link. maybe someone will finally take pity on my pea size brain & walk me thru how to do it!!!!!!!!! somebody anybody!!!!!!!! argh!!!!!!

ok, on to better things.....a lovely facecloth made from sugar & cream, or whatever that cotton is, in pastel shades (which really don't show up too well in the photo but that's life). it took me 1 evening; was fast & easy & alot of fun too. I hope you like it. it is still on the blocking board in case you hadn't noticed....I'll post a finished pic when it's dry & maybe the colors will show up better.
other than that, I'm still working on the nature shawl & I just love seeing the leaves & vines progress....it literally gives me goosebumps!!!! that & the sox, 2 on 2 needles, almost at the toe decrease.
now, I really don't do sox this way (the few that I HAVE done, that I didn't rip to shreds that is)...I much prefer working toe up because my kitchener stitch is really not bad, but on sock toes it is horrendous!!!!!! so these lovely sox will be marred by my grafting & there isn't a damn thing I can do about it. (this is where somebody offers to do it for me...hint hint!)
well anyway....ok, here's that pic I promised you. enjoy!!!!!
